So it seems that the current squad order that works the majority of the time is the defend order. It seems to really only work when you perform an action within a certain proximity of the defend order. It is uncertain what this range is, but it seems to mean it has the greatest affect if your whole squad is battling in and around this person. It makes sense as a defend order, but A) none of the other actions give WP I don't think and B) it sort of means that it doesn't allow for a squad to be operating under orders with a lot of tactical efficiency.
I'm imagining that there will be a devblog about Squad Orders in 1.5 pretty soon, but what if:
-Different squad order types gave different rewards (attack person game +50% rewards, ;rally at this location' gives 5 points on arrivial (cooldown expected)) -There were heal/resupply/revive/'mayday' orders that non-leaders could give. -so many orders could be given at a time (maybe based on skills...?)

Defend orders give a +20% bonus to actions. Should attack orders also be +20% or should they be different? |

I think a sort of hierarchical approach to 'orders' would be nice. Squad leaders could issue OPORDs which would be general orders that do not expire until another OPORDs is issued, or the OPORD's condition is filled. This would generally involve:
Defend Objective (standing order - +30% bonus for logistics actions performed at location, removed if location is captured) Defend Location (standing order - +30% extra bonus for logistics actions performed at location) Attack Objective (fulfilled when objective is owned by your team +20 pts per member in area when point is hacked) Attack Location (standing order - +30% extra bonuses for combat action performed at location) Recon Objective (fulfilled if LOS/Scan is performed at location) Recon Location (fulfilled if LOS/Scan is performed at location)
Then there could be secondary FRAGOs that do not interrupt OPORDs. They could help inform team members of additional tasks to complete. There could also be up to 3 FRAGOs issued at a time.
Destroy target (destroying target grants +30% bonus to action) Repair target (repairing target to 100% health removes FRAGO, grants +25% bonus to action) Rally point (+25% for actions performed at rally point (vehicle drop-off?)) |

calisk galern wrote:the problem with attack orders is they stop working if you stop looking at them, put the order on an objective and hide behind cover and then your squad order is lost, target a person to kill, and they move behind cover and it's lost.
it's just not practical
If only there were people out there who could progressively improve the game away from broken mechanics like this... |

My point was about the nature of the defend order. For everyone to get points for their kills/work, it has to be close to the defend order. I have nothing against a well coordinated 6 man squad, but to get maximum WP do they really all need to be that close, or could we let the squad order system become its own role that gives a squad leader and a team a significant leg up if they are good. |

Bojo The Mighty wrote:Actually I know for a fact that Rally Command works
Place the rally command over someone and works just like a defend order I know Attack works but it's so hard to make use of it
So is there a functional difference? |
